In Lima, its Plaza de Reyes shows us the best in: history, magic and its enormous cultural infrastructures. That is why on this tour, we will show you the famous Aliaga House, where 17 generations have passed since 1335.
The history of this mansion dates back to the times of Francisco Pizarro, when the Extremaduran conqueror distributed the land of the newly founded Lima among his men. Among them was Jerónimo de Aliaga y Remires, who at only 16 years old went to the Indies and He ended up becoming one of the conquerors of Peru. The Aliaga lineage has been living in this house since its construction in 1535. Did you know that it is the same age as the city of Lima?
Casa Aliaga has also witnessed important moments in the history of Peru, serving as a refuge during the republic for President Miguel Iglesias, Rear Admiral Aurelio García and generals Manuel Velarde and Antonio Bertín.
We will tour the luxurious halls of Casa Aliaga while we learn the history of this family that has lived there for 17 generations. Visit the tiled hall and the bedrooms decorated with Louis XVI style furniture, French rugs and Japanese vases.
From the large windows of the lavish dining room we can see the patio and its 19th century English fountain.
Another point that we will not miss will be the chapel, whose walls were covered with silver plates that were stolen in a looting during the war of independence.
