Description

This is not just a simple tour about a television series; it is a deep dive into the history of Birmingham, the city that was the engine of the Industrial Revolution and the battleground of Victorian gangs.

We will travel back in time to an era of extreme contrasts. While imposing neo-Gothic buildings, such as the Old Eye Hospital and the School of Art, symbolized the ambition and progress of the era, the red brick streets—the material that literally built this working-class city—hid an underworld of crime and social struggle.

Our historical tour uses the phenomenon of street gangs, including the famous Peaky Blinders, as the thread to unravel this complex society. We will explore how economic precariousness, illegal gambling, and police pressure gave rise to these groups, whose distinctive outfits reflected both rebellion and the desire for status in a hostile environment.

You will discover the strategic role of the Worcester Canal, an industrial artery that, under the cover of night, became the key route for alcohol smuggling and clandestine gambling. We will also stop in front of monuments like the Hall of Memory and the Burnaby Obelisk, which connect us with the great events and heroes of the era, from the trauma of the First World War to the adventurous spirit of the Empire.

Discover the authentic Birmingham: a city forged in the industrial fire, marked by Victorian elegance, and controlled, in the shadows, by gangs that wrote their own history in the streets.
